The copyright to some of the data in this table is retained by the source agency; see appendix for details before reproducing these data elsewhere. All data used here with written permission. *Gives the number of professionals abroad as a fraction of total professionals (domestic + abroad). **There are 834 physicians born in one of the other eight receiving countries who appear in the 2001 census of South Africa. This negative number thus represents a "netting out" term.
