  1. The percentages are calculated using the number of countries by subregional economic group as denominator. ECOWAS, WAEMU, ECCAS, and SADC, respectively, stand for the Economic Community of West African States, the West African Economic and Monetary Union, the Economic Community of Central African States, and the Southern African Development Community. ECOWAS excludes countries that are members of WAEMU. “Other” refers to countries that do not belong to any of the above-mentioned subregional economic groups. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is a member of both ECCAS and SADC is counted as ECCAS
